I remember so clearly, during my one and only in person WWKC visit, you drawing in a notebook with a pen that seemed like magic and smile on your face as you listened to other artists read.
I remember feeling a kind of awe at your ability to open the flood gate of your mind and let your heart live somewhere outside the gates for a while, through the strokes of that magic pen on paper.
If that’s not being an artist, I don’t know what is. You embody the word artist. Please keep living outside those gates.
Btw I wanted to ask for the fish you were drawing but it felt pushy lol.
Oh my goodness that’s right!! I almost forgot that the reading potion was such a special time for me those in-person workshop nights, because while I’d be listening to the magic being read aloud I was also creating with my hands and it would integrate all that beauty even more! Next time ask for the fish!!!!
"The middle is where the magic is." I learned that on the Camino when I realized that getting to Santiago was not the goal. The goal was being on the Way. I will always be in the middle, no matter my age or circumstances. My destinaton is the middle.
Your creativity carries light and joy in its satchel. Thank you for letting others in to this space. It’s an absolute delight to share in your wonder. Ps I love you.
"I have no memories of making any kind of visual art until I was an adult. I’m not unique in this plot line." ... yeah I felt that. My mom was a math teacher and she did not get much of anything about her artistic kids. Thanks for writing -- and drawing!

I love this insight, Peter. And it makes me all the more excited to read your book when it launches! Love to you, dear friend.
Love to you too!
Oh I love the fugly so much, the name, just everything is so so good. Glad to see more parts of you.
I could literally hear your voice saying these words as I read them! Thank you for loving the fugly!!!
This is some the biggest, consequential, valuable, essential work that can be done — at any time, but especially now. Make, share, repeat!
Thank you for these words, coco. I love you dearly.
What a fabulous, relatable post. Your headline and byline alone are award worthy.
Thank you for that!!!
Beautiful, well said, keep it up!
